WV TIRE DISPOSAL
Petition for consent and approval of a transfer request from WV Tire Disposal to Axiom Tire Recycling and a Rule 42A application.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
An evidentiary hearing will be held by the Public Service Commission of West Virginia at the Summersville Municipal Building, Council Chambers, 400 N. Broad Street, Summersville, West Virginia, on December 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., regarding a request to (i) transfer WV Tire Disposal (VVVTD) to Axiom Tire Recycling (Axiom) and (ii) implement increased rates and charges for disposing of waste tires. Anyone desiring to comment or protest the approval of the transfer or increased rates may appear at the hearing or file a written protest to: Executive Secretary of the Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 812, Charleston, WV 25323.
Commission Staff has recommended the Commission approve the transfer of control of WVTD to Axiom as requested and increased rates on a temporary basis. The proposed rates include an increase of $0.45 or 36 percent to accept passenger tires, an increase of $0.75 or 42.86 percent to accept light truck tires (under 18”) and an increase of $125 for accepting bulk tires over one ton or 250 percent. This description of the proposed rates is not exhaustive.
The increases shown are based on averages of all customers in the indicated class. Each class may receive an increase or decrease greater or less than stated here. Individual customers may receive increases that are greater or less than average. Furthermore, the requested rates and charges are only a proposal and are subject to change (increases or decreases) by the Public Service Commission in its review of the filing. Any increase in rates and charges will not become effective until authorized and approved by the Commission.
