LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) — Carnegie Hall is delighted to announce a hands-on stained glass workshop led by instructor Lynda Weischowsky on Saturday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to craft an elegant three-dimensional hanging ivy basket in glass, a project that combines artistry with practical technique and results in a piece that is both lifelike and enduring.
This beginner-friendly class requires no prior glass-cutting experience. Using pre-cut pieces of glass, students will learn to construct their ivy basket through layered assembly, wire wrapping, and decorative soldering. The forgiving nature of the design ensures that each participant will achieve beautiful results—lush vines that appear strikingly real but require no watering. While no glass cutting skills are needed, the basket will be assembled with lead came, and participants are asked to bring a work apron or shirt suitable for soldering.
Class size is limited, ensuring personalized instruction and a supportive environment. The cost is $95 for members and $105 for nonmembers. Thanks to scholarships provided by Carnegie’s Cardinal Fund and Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation, the student fee to just $60. The workshop is open to ages 16 and above, making it an accessible and inspiring opportunity for anyone interested in exploring the timeless beauty of stained glass.
Carnegie Hall is proud to offer this creative experience as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering community engagement through the arts.
