Rock, W.Va. (WVDN) – On Thursday, November 6, 2025, at approximately 09:35 am, Mercer County 911 Center reported a shooting complaint where the victim, Randall Mabe, 80, of Rock, WV, was lying in the roadway of Rock Road. Members of the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment were advised that the victim’s brother, Fredrick Mabe, 72, of Rock, WV, had shot the victim and ran back into a residence. The victim stated the accused, Fredrick Mabe, was barricaded inside the residence and had a black handgun. Princeton units surrounded the scene while West Virginia State Police Crisis Negotiator, SRT Delta Team, WVSP K9, and Bomb Technicians with a robot responded. The incident ultimately ended with Fredrick Mabe discharging a firearm at SRT members. Fredick Mabe was shot by return gunfire, and he succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin has been notified. Randall Mabe was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
