RONCEVERTE W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on October 28, at around 5:37 p.m., an officer with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched for a suspicious person in the vicinity of Greenbrier Middle School. A security guard on the premises discovered a female who was reportedly acting strangely and talking about DoorDash.
When the officer arrived, the female had left and was reportedly seen traveling southbound on U.S. 219 in a silver Subaru Outback. The officer located the vehicle and started following it. The officer then initiated a traffic stop in the vicinity of Locust Street in Ronceverte. The officer reported that the traffic stop was for following left of center and a taillight out.
During the stop, the officer began to question the woman, identified as Emily Cadle. The officer asked Cadle what she was doing at the school. According to the criminal complaint, Cadle responded by saying she was trying to figure out her DoorDash. The officer also reportedly noticed Cadle had pinpoint pupils and bloodshot eyes.
When the officer attempted to administer field tests, Cadle allegedly could not focus or understand the instructions for the eye examination. She then consented to perform standard field sobriety tests, which indicated she was impaired. Cadle subsequently failed a preliminary breath test, registering a result of .262, which is more than three times the legal limit of 0.08. She was immediately arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and later registered a final blood-alcohol content (BAC) of .277 at the processing station.
