Professor Says

Resort Could Lose

Out If Casino

Is Approved

The biggest loser if The Greenbrier is given the go-ahead to open a casino could be the resort itself, according to a University of Illinois professor. Invited to Greenbrier County by anti-casino groups to provide a counterpoint to economic studies funded by The Greenbrier, Professor John Warren Kindt is the author of more than 30 articles , some of which deal with the issue of the economic impacts of legalized gambling. “The clientele of a five-star hotel is totally different than the people who will go to a casino,” Kindt said.”The Greenbrier has 200 years of upper-echelon niche marketing, and with gambling you’re going to see this five-star resort slide down into a sleazy casino,” Kindt said.
