Armory Corporation
The Ronceverte Armory corporation was organized at a general meeting of the stockholders held in the directors’ room of the First National Bank. The corporation received a charter some time ago, authorizing it to build an armory building in Ronceverte, for which land was bought a few weeks ago on Railroad Avenue.

thousand millions of dollars in gold and jewels have been placed in the cemeteries of the United States, as a matter of sentiment or relic of an ancient custom.

Raleigh County now has 114 known cases of tuberculosis according to the Raleigh County Tuberculosis Assocaition. This fact, together, with the fact that the number of cases has grown during the past year, were the outstanding figures in the interesting report. In 1924 there were 33 tuberculosis deaths reported in Raleigh County.

Tex Ritter
At The Lewis
Tex Ritter and His Reveue will appear on stage in person at Lewisburg’s Lewis Theatre October 31. Ritter, a singer and maker of records, has starred in dozens of motion pictures. Tex will present Spud Goodale, Leo Cherry, Dorothy Fay and Jim Hart in his added revue.

The major issues of the political campaign now coming to a climax in West Virginia are aptly depicted as “crime, corruption, Communism and Korea, “ declared William H. Rardin, Republican candidate for Attorney General of West Virginia. “On top of these woes, now looms the terror of inflation, shrinking the value of the dollar, as a result of artificial sky-high prices, fostered and supported by the government. The flames of this inflation are already flaring high as the U. S. government plunges $15,000,000 deeper into debt every time the sun sets.

West Virginia’s present enrollment of 5,238 students from all of the state’s 55 counties, 29 other states, and 14 countries outside the continental limits of the United States, according to Registrar J. Everett Long. There are 90 students from Greenbrier County, 28 from Monroe and 33 from Pocahontas.
Osteopathic School Needs Assistance
Sen. Ralph Williams, D-Greenbrier, says the West Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine will close unless the special legislative session provides assistance. He said the financial situation is so acute that some teachers have volunteered to work with no pay. He said the future of the Lewisburg school rests on a bill that would force the Board of Regents to accept responsibility for operating it.
Discovery Of Teeth And Jaws Of Man 3.75 Million
Years Ago
Anthropologist Mary Leakey has reported finds of well preserved teeth and jaws in East Africa that reliably place early man as far back as 3.75 million years. The fossils are the oldest firmly dated examples of members of the hominid family, which includes all man-like creatures.

It was off to Washington for President Anwar Sadat of Egypt in quest of military aid to offset U. S. support of Israel. “I shall be seeking all over the world if the United States does not agree to provide me, “ he said. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said the United States “will look very sympathetically at Egyptian requests” for economic aid and “we are prepared to have a general discussion” of requests for military assistance.

Out If Casino
Is Approved
The biggest loser if The Greenbrier is given the go-ahead to open a casino could be the resort itself, according to a University of Illinois professor. Invited to Greenbrier County by anti-casino groups to provide a counterpoint to economic studies funded by The Greenbrier, Professor John Warren Kindt is the author of more than 30 articles , some of which deal with the issue of the economic impacts of legalized gambling. “The clientele of a five-star hotel is totally different than the people who will go to a casino,” Kindt said.”The Greenbrier has 200 years of upper-echelon niche marketing, and with gambling you’re going to see this five-star resort slide down into a sleazy casino,” Kindt said.
Kim Cooper Receives Media Support Award
At the recent West Virginia Governors Conference on Tourism, Kim Cooper, executive director of the Lewisburg Convention & Visitors Bureau, took home great honors, having been chosen the recipient of the Media Support award at the industry’s annual Stars of the Industry luncheon. One of only ten awards presented, the Media Support award is presented to an individual or organization that has effectively used the media to gain extraordinary attention for the WV tourism industry.

Memorial Award
Each year, the faculty at Lewisburg Elementary School chooses a deserving sixth grade student to receive the coveted Judy Baker Memorial Award. This year receiving the award is Alex Aide, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Aide of Fairlea. Sown presenting the award is Mary Fullen, sixth grade teacher.
