MADISON, W.Va. (WVDN) – New Tenth Family Court Circuit Judge Elliott Workman will be formally sworn in to office during an investiture ceremony at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the circuit courtroom of the Boone County Courthouse in Madison.
Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia Justice Thomas H. Ewing will administer the oath of office. Ninth Judicial Circuit Judges Jay Hoke and Stacy Nowicki-Eldrige will also deliver remarks. The Tenth Family Court Circuit and Ninth Judicial Circuit both cover Lincoln and Boone counties.
Judge Workman was appointed by Gov. Patrick Morrisey on Oct. 6 to fill the vacancy in the Tenth Family Court Circuit following the retirement of Family Court Judge Bobby R. Hale.
A Madison resident, Judge Workman most recently served as an assistant prosecutor in Boone County. She has extensive experience in private practice, including work in family law, criminal law, Child Protective Service (CPS) cases, and frequent service as a guardian ad litem to represent the best interests of children in court proceedings. She also served previously as a mental hygiene commissioner, presiding over matters involving individuals and families in crisis.
She also recently received the 2025 Children’s Flag Community Recognition Award from the Cornerstone Child Advocacy Center in Boone County for her work with juveniles and families.
Judge Workman is a graduate of West Virginia State University and Capital University Law School.
