LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – On Saturday, Oct. 18, approximately 800 residents of the Greenbrier Valley gathered at the Lewisburg Greenspace as part of a nationwide day of action called “No Kings.” The event combined a community rally with a food pantry supply drive benefiting local families.

Organized by the Greenbrier County Democratic Women’s Club and Greenbrier Indivisible, the event was one of 2,700 rallies across the country and in every state. Guest speakers included former Delegate Danielle Walker from Morgantown, Brit Aguirre, of Logan, and a candidate for the First Congressional District. The rally included a march up and down Washington Street. Attendees showed their love for America with their handmade signs and American Flags.

In addition to the rally, participants donated items to benefit local food pantries. The donated items filled and overflowed the bed of a pick-up truck.

Organizers said, “The peaceful gathering served as both a reminder and a celebration that our freedoms were secured through generations of civic engagement, and that they remain strongest when we practice them together. At the end of the day, we’re all neighbors, no matter how much we may disagree, and events like this are about building community as much as they are about raising our voices.”
