Charleston, W.Va. (WVDN) — As West Virginia’s oak trees begin their beautiful transformation, Governor Patrick Morrisey encourages travelers to take advantage of the extended fall season and plan a getaway to the Mountain State.

To celebrate the lasting autumn season, travelers can enjoy 20 percent off new reservations for a 3-night stay at West Virginia State Park lodges. Guests can redeem the offer using code FallmostHeaven, now through December 30, 2025 — excluding Thanksgiving Day.

“We want people from across the country to know that not only are our beautiful national parks open, but you have an opportunity to come and spend time in our state parks as well,” said Governor Morrisey. “If ever there’s a time to come to the Mountain State, it’s right now.”

“While we might be seeing a slower start to the foliage season across some regions of West Virginia, the forests are still gradually transitioning,” said West Virginia Division of Forestry Director Jeremy Jones. “The cool snap and rain expected this week will help bring to life more of our beloved hues in the weeks ahead.”

The West Virginia Department of Tourism hosts a live leaf tracker on its website to help residents and travelers find best spots to see fall color in the Mountain State. They continue to roll out weekly travel-ready itineraries highlighting some of the best destinations and adventures for enjoying vibrant color. These curated itineraries can be found on West Virginia Tourism’s social media channels and at wvtourism.com/press-releases.

Also in time for fall trip planning, the West Virginia Department of Tourism has announced the reopening of the popular West Virginia Paranormal Trail. The statewide quest returns with four new stops, bringing the total number of hair-raising locations to 21. Since its launch last year, visitors from 48 states and eight countries have registered for a free mobile passport.
