LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – With the holiday shopping season just around the corner, now is the time to start thinking about the perfect gift. “You’re not going to find anything cookie-cutter at this show,” says Joy Arbuckle, advertising chair for the 43rd annual Art and Craft show sponsored by Edgewood Presbyterian Church. This weekend, craft lovers will gather in the West Virginia Building at the State Fair Event Center for three days of creativity, food and fun.
With approximately 81 different vendors filling nearly 100 spots, this year’s art & craft show is setting up to be nothing short of spectacular. “We start planning for next year’s show immediately after the current one concludes,” Arbuckle said. “We look at the previous show to see what worked and what didn’t.” New additions to the vendor lineup this year include cottage food, 3-D printing, watercolor paintings, clay figurines, seaglass, stone art, jeweled and beaded ornaments and whimsical garden decor crafted from vintage glass. Returning favorites include jewelry, woodcrafts, candles, needlecrafts, soaps and lotions.
For those interested in learning to craft, there will be free demonstrations at this year’s show. On Friday morning, Bonnie Myers will be making a miniature beaded poodle statue at 11 a.m., Kariann Pipkin will be creating a simple Halloween wreath at 1 p.m., Melvin Canterbury will be crafting board butter at 2 p.m. and David Trader will be showcasing a leather belt or leather clutch purse at 3 p.m.. On Saturday, the free demonstrations continue at 11 a.m. with Suzanne Duttine’s macrame bracelet, 1 p.m. with Missy Deem for bow making, 2 p.m. with Lorrie Watson’s framed watercolor sea glass art and concluding at 3 p.m. with a knitting creation by Julie Bennett.
If you plan to spend the day, food items will be available. In addition to old-fashioned apple butter, fried pies and sweet treats offered by vendors, there will be a concession stand serving up hotdogs, hamburgers, baked potatoes, soup, wraps and drinks.
For anyone who has ever purchased a handmade craft, you feel the difference right away. Instead of holding a mass-produced product, you hold a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. Two hands were used to create it, one mind to design it and a crafter’s precious time to perfect it. “This is a chance to support and buy local, shop small and walk away with something unique,” said Joy Arbuckle.
Immediately upon the conclusion of this year’s art & craft show at 4 p.m. on Sunday, vendors can begin applying for the 2026 event. Previous vendors will have first choice of placement and pricing will not change.
