CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – State Treasurer Larry Pack announced today his Office’s Unclaimed Property Division returned more than $5.1 million worth of funds to individuals, businesses, and organizations during the month of September.

“Our claims this month increased due to nearly $3 million worth of West Virginia Cash Now checks being issued to more than 2,300 recipients. My Office continues to return unclaimed property funds to rightful owners at the fastest rate in state history, and we are very proud of that,” Treasurer Pack said. “I encourage all West Virginians to search our database to see if you or your family have unclaimed property in your name.”

The Unclaimed Property Division returned a total of $5,171,020 paid out across 4,381 claims representing 12,489 individual properties during the month of September.

Treasurer Pack recently announced a total of 2,339 individuals will receive Cash Now checks as part of this year’s distribution, representing a total of $2,939,794.25 returned to rightful owners.

Since the start of Fiscal Year 2026, which began in July, the Unclaimed Property program has returned more than $8.2 million to rightful owners.

The State Treasurer’s Office now has more than $478 million worth of listings in its database.

For more information about the unclaimed property program or to find out if the Office is holding any money for you or your family, visit www.WVUnclaimedProperty.gov.
