RICHWOOD- The Greenbrier West Cavaliers cross country team traveled to Richwood on Tuesday, September 30, to take on the hills of Cherry Hill Country Club at the annual Cherry Hill Invitational.
Junior Jesse Walkup led the Cavaliers with a second-place finish of 19:33.78 and junior Dominic Mandeville followed in 10th 21:15.80, while senior Elijah Russell crossed the line in 12th 21:24.41.
Freshman Gabriel Keaton rounded out the team with an 36th-place finish in 34:24.61
Against a competitive field, the Cavaliers showed steady improvement and grit on the hilly course. Walkup and Mandeville’s top 10 finishes set the pace, while Russell provided solid depth in the middle of the pack. Keaton’s determination in his first season added to the team’s overall effort.
