WHITE SULPHUR SPINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, an officer received a call to respond to the vicinity of Sporting Member Way. The victim was allegedly being harassed by her husband, with whom she is trying to get a divorce.
The officer met the victim outside upon arriving. The victim reportedly advised that she and Eric Mazey were in the process of separating. During the course of the separation, the victim had moved to the current location to get away from Mazey. The victim advised that she had told Mazey repeatedly to stop texting and calling her, but he allegedly wouldn’t stop. The victim then showed the officer the text messages in which she asked Mazey to stop texting her. The criminal complaint states that the officer took photos of the text messages and stated that they will be printed off and added to the case files.
While the officer was talking to the victim, he reportedly noticed a bag lying beside the porch with two cats in it. The officer asked the victim if they were her cats. The victim said that Mazey had just dropped off the cats at the residence. She advised that she never told Mazey where she was staying after they separated, and doesn’t know how he found out. The victim said this especially scared her, and she is afraid Mazey will hurt her and her daughter now that he knows where they live.
The victim then proceeded to detail incidents that happened on April 8 of this year, according to the criminal complaint. She said she didn’t call the police at the time but wished to report it now. The victim advised that on April 8, Mazey got mad at her and allegedly strangled her with his hands around her throat.
The victim said she also had pictures of hand marks with bruising around her neck, which have been deleted. She says she didn’t delete them, but that Mazey has access to her iCloud account and has been deleting pictures without permission.
The victim then described another incident that occurred in December of 2024. According to the criminal complaint, Mazey was drunk and high that night when he started to argue with the victim. Mazey accused her of not laying out their daughter’s clothes for school. The victim was lying on the bed when Mazey allegedly grabbed a pillow, ran over to her and held it over her face to the point she couldn’t breathe.
The victim went on to describe several more incidents in which Mazey allegedly threw bottles at her, yelled at her, broke her phone, and burned her with cigarettes. While claiming her daughter witnessed these events, the victim couldn’t give dates for their occurrence.
She did fill out a statement, including the strangulation and harassment.
When the officer asked the victim if she would like to get a protection order, she said yes because she was scared for herself and her daughter. According to the criminal complaint, she was then taken to a magistrate who issued a DVP. While at the courthouse, Mazey reportedly called the victim numerous times despite being asked to stop.
