FAIRLEA- Much like their offensive counterparts, the Greenbrier East defense was just as dominant this past Friday night.

But it wasn’t just a player or two, it was a total team effort, and that’s why the whole defense is the West Virginia Daily News player(s) of the game for week five.

No official defensive stats were available, but Harrison Smith stood out with two sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Kaden Stone scooped up a fumble and returned it 46 yards for a touchdown, and he also got an interception. Zyir Lee had a huge interception in the first quarter which officially swung all momentum to the Spartan sideline. Keshawn Bland had several big hits as did Nate Suttle, and really, the defense just stepped up in a huge way on all three levels.

Oak Hill managed just 172 total yards on the night and was the final feather in the cap for East’s defensive sideline.
