WILLIAMSBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – It has been said that a bond between siblings grows stronger through shared experiences, and nobody knows that better than Kendalynn Case and Jasmine Westbrook. As both co-owners and sisters, this dynamic duo recently opened the fittingly titled cottage food bakery, Baked Sis.
“We opened on September 19,” says Kendalynn Case. “The business is mine and my sister’s, and we’ve always baked with my aunt. It’s always been a love that we have.” Recalling a day that she was making bagels and told her sister they should open a bakery, Case admits that it wasn’t long before that dream became a reality. “Two weeks later, we opened one up.”
When asked about her favorite thing to bake, Case was quick to respond. “Our cookies, because we get a lot of good reviews on those,” she says. “We change the menu every weekend, but we do brown butter chocolate chip and pumpkin spice with cream cheese frosting.” Among the other menu items offered are cinnamon rolls, pumpkin rolls, muffins and breads.
Every business relies on the community, especially a new business. For Baked Sis, the support has been heartwarming. “The community is the best part about starting this bakery,” Case said. “We’ve had a lot of support here in Williamsburg. We’re saving up to buy a permanent building and open a big bakery.”
The pickup spot for Baked Sis is similar to a farm stand in that products are available for pickup, and a cashbox is on hand for payment. Venmo and Cash App are also accepted. For customers who wish to place a custom order and find that Fairlea is a closer pickup spot than Williamsburg, orders can be picked up at Lewisburg Tan. Special order items should be placed at least 4 days in advance.
