GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – Governor Patrick Morrisey recently appointed the vice presidents of the Greenbrier County Republican Club to positions.

Robert L. Holland, “Trey”, was appointed to the Board of Governors of The State Fair of West Virginia. Holland grew up in Doddridge County, the son of Third Circuit judge (Doddridge, Ritchie and Pleasants counties) Robert Holland, Jr, and graduated from The Episcopal School in Alexandria, Virginia.

He is a 2011 WVU graduate with a degree in English and creative writing and is currently working on a master’s degree in public policy and administration. Trey worked for a legislative committee on banking and insurance and is currently employed by Purple Land Management, dealing with oil and gas.

Holland and his wife live in Alderson and are expecting their first child, a daughter, in early November..

Douglas McKinney is a retired urologist who has been appointed to the West Virginia Health Care Authority, whose major job is reviewing applications for Certificates of Need for new or expansion of healthcare facilities.

Certificate of Need legislation was passed by Congress in 1971. It was soon passed in most states to prevent overspending on new, expensive technology. Some 35 states have rescinded their CON laws, but 38 Republicans in the WV House of Delegates joined all Democrats in 2022 to retain the CON. Governor Morrisey proposed a bill to rescind it this year, but the bill did not get out of committee.

Doctor McKinney has served as president of the WV State Medical Association, the WVU Medical  School Alumni Association and the American Association of Clinical Urologists (the urological socioeconomic organization). He also served several years on the health policy committee of the American Urological Association. Thus, he has extensive experience in health policy.

Doctor McKinnay and his wife live just outside Lewisburg.
