LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – During the September in-state work period, Senator Jim Justice spent time in the southern part of the state, wishing school kids at Cranberry-Prosperity Elementary School and Eastern Greenbrier Middle School well in the new school year, and joining officials for a groundbreaking ceremony at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center:

“I love West Virginia more than you’ll ever know, and taking the time to visit schools, hospitals, and spend time with West Virginians allows me to reset and place a finger on the pulse of our state. Folks sent me to Washington to be their voice, and touring the state gives me the insight I need in order to continue my work and keep West Virginia on the path to prosperity. It is truly a blessing to see all the great progress that has been made in our state – keep it going West Virginia!” said Senator Jim Justice.

Cranberry-Prosperity Elementary School:

  • Senator Justice visited Cranberry-Prosperity, where he welcomed students back to school and congratulated the Cranberry-Prosperity student body on rising test scores.
  • Senator Justice first visited Cranberry-Prosperity as Governor in 2019, when he signed Senate Bill 267, making West Virginia the first state in the nation to ensure every student has access to computer science education before graduating high school.

Eastern Greenbrier Middle School:

  • In July, Senators Justice and Capito sent a letter, along with other Senators, urging the Trump Administration to release education funding – directly impacting programs at Eastern Greenbrier Middle School.
  • Shortly after the letter was sent, the Trump Administration released approximately $5 billion in congressionally appropriated education funds, including $1.3 billion for 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC).
  • 21st CCLC’s are federally funded after-school programs that provide academic and enrichment activities for students, particularly those in high-poverty areas, and resources for their families.

Greenbrier Valley Medical Center:

  • The groundbreaking ceremony celebrated a new infrastructure project and is a continuation of Senator Justice’s support of CAMC.
  • While Governor, Senator Justice was a strong supporter of rural hospitals in West Virginia and launched a Rural Hospitals Grant Program.
  • Senator Justice highlighted his efforts to include provisions for rural healthcare in the recently passed Big Beautiful Bill.
