LEWISBURG- This Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5, there will be a softball tournament held at Hollowell Park in Lewisburg that promises not to be just entertaining, but it’s for a wonderful cause as well.
All proceeds from the tournament, named WV Pitchin’ for a Cure, will be donated to Tricia Dauwel, a lifelong Greenbrier County resident who is currently battling breast cancer.
The tournament will feature seven 8U and 10U teams. Two local teams from Greenbrier County will participate along with two from Charleston, one from Alleghany (VA), one from Wyoming County, and one from Chapmanville.
The 10U division will be played on Saturday with the games beginning at 9:00 AM. The championship will be played at 5:00 PM. The 8U girls will play on Sunday at the same times. The games will have 70-minute time limits.
The community is encouraged to attend.
There will be a bake sale fundraiser in the concession stand and a 50/50 drawing with winners selected on both days.
“We’ll begin selling tickets this week. You can grab them at our practices on Tuesday and Thursday or I can meet up with you,” tournament coordinator Evan Dodrill said.
