WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (WVDN) — For Elizabeth Kirby, baking has always been more than a business. It’s a passion, a creative outlet, and a
way to stay close to her family. That passion has carried her from the humble beginnings of a home-based bakery to the helm of the newly
reopened Mill Creek Home Style Bakery, a rising institution in the Greenbrier County community.

Kirby, a mother of four, first made her mark as the owner and operator of the Rolling Dough Company, a home bakery she ran out of her West Virginia residence. “Baking has always been an outlet for Elizabeth, a way to relieve stress and spend time with her kids,” Kirby said. Specializing in breads, cakes, pies, gourmet cupcakes, and cookies, she quickly built a loyal following.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9, Mill Creek Home Style Bakery in White Sulphur Springs hosted a fall open house and Customer Appreciation Day, marking its official reopening.

The Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce welcomed the bakery back with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating its return to the community. “We are thrilled to welcome Mill Creek Home Style Bakery to the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce,” said Erin Hurst, executive director of
the chamber. “We appreciate them keeping White Sulphur Springs fed and supplied with sweet treats.”

The reopening was a joyous occasion, drawing customers old and new. Kirby expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support. “We are so excited to be a part of this community and to be a new member of the Greenbrier County Chamber of Commerce,” she said. “There is nothing we enjoy more than serving our customers food made from scratch with love. The support since we have reopened has been amazing.”

The bakery’s new hours, beginning the week of Sept. 21, are Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Saturdays available by appointment for custom order pickups and event setups.

For Kirby, the journey from the Rolling Dough Company to Mill Creek Bakery has been one of resilience, community, and a deep love for baking. “Whether it’s lunch, a sweet treat, or a custom order for a special event, we appreciate everyone who chooses to visit our shop,” she said.

As the aroma of fresh bread and pastries once again fills the air at Mill Creek Bakery, Kirby’s story stands as a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the bonds of community.

If you’re in the Greater Greenbrier area, stop by Mill Creek Home Style Bakery to enjoy a sweet treat. a grab-n-go lunch or place a custom order for your next event. Kirby and her team are ready to welcome you with open arms — and plenty of baked goods.
