BEAVER, W.Va. (WVDN) — New River Community and Technical College and its sister institution, Glenville State University, signed a memorandum of understanding this morning at New River CTC’s Raleigh County Campus, creating new opportunities for students to seamlessly continue their education.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Bonny Copenhaver, president of New River CTC, and Dr. Mark Manchin, president of Glenville State University. It provides guaranteed admission for New River CTC graduates with associate degrees into bachelor’s programs at Glenville State and ensures that credits earned at New River CTC will transfer, giving students confidence that their academic work will count toward completing a four-year degree.
Pathways covered under the agreement include accounting, business management and marketing, computer information analysis, administration of justice, psychology, biology, and multiple teacher education fields.
“This agreement continues to open doors for our students by giving them direct pathways to bachelor’s degrees,” said Copenhaver. “It builds on the strong foundation they’ve created at New River and ensures they can move forward with confidence, knowing the work they’ve already accomplished will count toward their future goals.
Copenhaver also noted the importance of the partnership with Glenville State. “By working with our sister institution, we’re expanding opportunities across the state and strengthening the higher education pipeline for West Virginia students.”
