FAIRLEA- The Greenbrier East Spartans suffered their first loss of the young 2025 season when they fell to Alleghany (VA) 36-26 in the annual Battle-of-the-Border game.
As dominant as AJ Godfrey was for the Spartans against his former team, East tight end Grant Burdette had his best game as a Spartan in a while.
For his efforts, Burdette is the West Virginia Daily News offensive player of the game for week number three.
The senior hauled in five passes for 124 yards including a 32-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. If Burdette uses that performance as a springboard for the rest of the schedule, the Spartans will feel pretty good moving forward.
The Spartans are off this week.
