PIPESTEM- The Greenbrier West High School Cavalier cross country team kept its momentum rolling Friday at the Beckley Invitational, held at Pipestem State Park.
For the second meet in a row, every Cavalier runner crossed the finish line with a new personal record, proving once again the hard work at practice is paying off.
The challenging Pipestem course is known for its hills and turns, but the Cavaliers attacked it with determination. Each runner shaved valuable seconds from their season-best times, showing grit and growth with every mile. Coaches and teammates alike praised the effort, energy, and discipline that went into the performances.
“This team just keeps getting better every week,” said Coach Walkup.
“They push themselves, they push each other, and it shows. To have every runner PR again is special.”
“The Cavaliers’ shaved a combined 12 minutes off their time today at Pipestem, what a huge, combined effort.”
The Cavaliers’ commitment to steady improvement has become their trademark this season. Meet after meet, the athletes are proving that dedication and teamwork create results on the course. Next up, the Cavaliers will look to carry their streak into Big Ditch Lake, as the season heads deeper into September.
