WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS- The annual Battle for the Springhouse, a tournament of high-powered high school basketball teams in the state that is played inside Colonial Hall at the Greenbrier, is getting finalized for this upcoming basketball season.

The girl’s division has already been finalized, while the boys should be finished in the next couple of days.

The Greenbrier East Lady Spartans will once again participate as they have the privilege of being the local, hometown team and have been in the tournament every year since its inception. The Lady Spartans won the girls division in 2025 and made it to the semifinals of the Class AAA state tournament.

The Morgantown Lady Mohigans are coming to the Greenbrier as well. The Mohigans made it all the way to the state championship game last season but lost to Spring Valley and will be one of the favorites again in 2025-26.

Parkersburg and Riverside round out the final two teams. Parkersburg was a AAAA state tournament qualifier last season and Riverside struggled last year, but Ava Ward and Cianna Groom are back to make the Warriors a threat this season.

With the exception of the Lady Spartans, the three other teams will be making their first ever appearances at the BFTS tournament.

The girl’s division games will be played January 30th-31st.
