CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – Governor Patrick Morrisey announced Friday that he has awarded $1,362,795 in Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Site-based Program grant funds to eight projects statewide. These funds will be used to assist organizations in community asset mapping and gap analyses in the target counties, identifying key stakeholders and partners, while increasing referrals to Substance Use Disorder treatment through Quick Response Team and Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion Expansion (QLA-E) as a pre- and/or post-arrest treatment alternative and diversion for individuals at high risk for overdose or substance use.

“I am pleased to award these critical funds to organizations across the state helping West Virginians battle addiction,” said Governor Morrisey. “Recently, our state has seen a reduction in drug overdose deaths, and these organizations deserve a lot of credit for the work they are doing in their communities. But the work is not finished – we will continue fighting until we can end this epidemic in West Virginia.”

These funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance and are administered by the Justice and Community Services Section of the West Virginia Division of Administrative Services.

Funds were awarded to the following:

FRMS Health Systems Inc. – $336,860

Funds will be used to allow for the expansion of the Quick Response Team in Raleigh County by adding an additional staff member and sustaining the current response team.

Marshall University Research Corporation: – $246,000

Funds will be used to aid in the expansion of QLA-E and will scale up the original QLA approach and program.

Mid Ohio Valley Fellowship Home – $59,886

Funds will be used to continue aiding in community based services for people with Substance Use Disorder that are on probation, parole, supervised release, to reduce recidivism and advance rehabilitative services.

Rea of Hope Fellowship Home Inc. – $50,238

Funds will be used to continue aiding staff preservation, institutional knowledge, and ensure seamless program continuity, thereby maintaining consistent service delivery and strengthening long-term outcomes for program participants.

Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center – $231,853

Funds will be used to alleviate barriers related to gaps in insurance coverage, with the long-term goal of enhancing the effectiveness and accessibility of essential services.

Valley Comprehensive Community Mental Health Center – $105,304

Funds will be used to continue aiding in Veteran’s Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion and Peer Services.

Westbrook Health Services Inc. – $272,768

Funds will be used to fund a regional LEAD Program Director and Peer Recovery Support Specialists who will provide direct engagement, and recovery coaching while expanding all coverage and outreach and strengthening training for law enforcement partners.

West Virginia Sober Living – $59,886

Funds will be used to continue aiding in the re-entry process using peer recovery support specialists in Kanawha and Monongalia Counties.
