CLINTONVILLE W.Va. (WVDN) – A shooting occured in the Clintonville area yesterday and the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office released the following information:

On Saturday, September 6, at approximately 4:26 p.m., members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched by the Greenbrier County 911 Center to reports of a gunshot wound call in the Shoestring Trail area in Clintonville, Greenbrier County, WV. While en route to this call, 911 advised that the victim was a juvenile.

Upon arrival, EMS was observed from the Clintonville Fire Department, White Sulphur Springs and Fairlea EMS agencies performing life resuscitation measures. After several attempts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Team was activated and responded to the scene to process the residence.

Four other Juveniles were identified as being present in the residence, with three being in the room of the incident when it occurred. These Juveniles were all transported to the Lewisburg Detachment of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office along with guardians for the purpose of interviews.

Members of the Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Greenbrier County Public Defender’s Office responded to assist with these interviews due to the age of all involved. West Virginia Division of Health and Human Services Child Protective Services was contacted and responded as well. After several interviews and evidence collection, all the Juveniles were released to their families. Currently, the investigation remains active pending evidence returns from the Forensic Lab and an Autopsy Investigation by the West Virginia Chief Medical Examiner’s Office. Deputy S.H. Peacock is the lead investigator in this investigation.

No names will be released due to the fact that all involved were juveniles.

The thoughts and prayers of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office and the Greenbrier Prosecuting Attorney’s Office are with the family, friends and all affected by this tragedy.
