LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Writer/director Rebekah Crabtree is the first to tell what a wonderful experience filming “The Kingdom of Rexmonte” was in Lewisburg.
Having spent a lot of time growing up in Greenbrier County, Crabtree explained that it had become like a second home. She went on to say that with a movie that needed mountains, creeks, caves and beautiful nature, it was a no-brainer as one of their primary filming locations.
In an interview, Crabtree said that the people of Greenbrier County really made the call for extras for the movie a huge success. She went on to say they were extremely grateful for such a large number of excited members of the community wanting to be part of their creation.
Crabtree said the whole town has been so welcoming, not only to perform as extras in the film, but also to offer their resources and help out the production in any way they can. She also said it has been so special so far, and she can’t wait to include everyone in the adventure.
She talked about how beautiful the area is and has the perfect scenic and woodland spots for their story. Crabtree cited the outpouring of support from friends and neighbors as her favorite part of getting to film in West Virginia. She stated it was such a fun way for everyone to come together on something creative that the whole county can enjoy and be proud of.
When asked to describe the movie plot, Crabtree responded by saying, “Our film is a fun and crazy PG-13 action adventure comedy that we know will be relatable and enjoyable for a wide range of audiences. We can’t wait to screen the film for audiences at The Lewis Theater in 2026.”
When asked if she would come back to West Virginia to shoot another movie, the response was an enthusiastic “Definitely.”
