FAIRLEA- The Greenbrier East defense was stellar for most of week one’s win over Riverside as numerous players contributed to the success of shutting down the Warriors for three-and-a-half quarters.
Although we could have flipped a coin to select the most impactful player, the WV Daily News Spartan defensive player of the game award goes to Brayden Brown for his efforts on Friday night.
Brown had two fumble recoveries on the night including one returned for Greenbrier East’s first score of 2025. He also had a huge stop on a special teams play when the Riverside snapper snapped the ball high and Brown was in the backfield to force a loss of 25 yards.
Brown and his teammates gave Spartan fans a glimpse of what’s hopefully to come over the next nine games.
