FAIRLEA- The Greenbrier East Spartans boys’ soccer team was impressive this past Thursday evening when they traveled to Pocahontas County and defeated the Warriors with relative ease, 9-1. However, on Saturday, Aug. 30, Greenbrier East welcomed in Bridgeport, a AAA power in all sports, and fell to the Indians 2-0 in what was a back-and-forth contest where the Spartans just could not quite find the goal.

Against Pocahontas County, senior Andrew Holt scored an incredible six goals. Holt scored three goals in each half and his second score of the evening was an impressive header into the net.

The other goals were scored by Harrison Leatherman, who had one, and August Vincent who put in the other two for the Spartans.

East, who has started 2-2 through their first four games, will get back on the field this Wednesday, September 4 when they battle the Princeton Tigers at home.
