GHENT W.Va. (WVDN) – On Monday, August 26, 2025, a member of the West Virginia State Police responded to the Little General Convenient Store located at 125 Odd Road in the Ghent area of Raleigh County in reference to a male subject who had had been seen in distress by a West Virginia Turnpike toll worker making claims that some person(s) were attempting to kill him. A Trooper encountered an armed male subject inside the Little General Store. Three rounds were fired during the encounter, leaving the male subject injured. EMS was notified, responded, and transported the male subject to Raleigh General Hospital and ultimately to CAMC General. No members of the West Virginia State Police were harmed during this incident.

This investigation is ongoing.
