PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVDN) — New River Community and Technical College has announced a new partnership with Mercer County Technical Education Center that will expand access to higher education and career pathways for both adult learners and high school students in southern West Virginia.
Beginning this fall, New River Community and Technical College will offer evening classes at Mercer County Technical Education Center, creating more flexible options for working adults and nontraditional students. This collaboration follows the April announcement of the Practical Nursing (LPN) program at New River Community and Technical College’s Mercer County Campus, giving prospective students the option to complete their prerequisite courses at Mercer County Technical Education Center before moving into the program.
Other offerings will include courses for the Criminal Justice, Business Administration, and Early Childhood Development programs as well as coursework for the Nail Technology program. Additional education and career-oriented classes will be added as the partnership grows.
The partnership will also increase dual enrollment opportunities for high school students in the region, allowing them to earn college credit while completing their high school diplomas. By taking advantage of these opportunities, students can save time and money toward a degree or certificate.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to meeting local educational needs, increasing access to college-level learning, and strengthening economic opportunities in Mercer County and surrounding areas.
