LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) — The Greenbrier Valley Off-Road Bicycling Association (GVORBA), a local chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association, is proud to announce the completion of significant upgrades to the YCC Exercise Trail—affectionately known as “Figure 8”—at Greenbrier State Forest.

This project was made possible through a generous grant from the James F. B. Peyton Fund, which allowed GVORBA to replace aging and unsafe trail features with brand-new, professionally designed skills elements manufactured by American Ramp Company. The improvements make the trail safer and more enjoyable for riders of all ages and abilities.

“This project is a great example of how partnerships and community support can make a lasting difference,” said Clay Elkins, president of the Greenbrier Valley Off-Road Bicycling Association. “Thanks to the Peyton Fund and the hard work of our volunteers, the Figure 8 trail is now a safer and more exciting place for riders to build skills, connect with nature, and enjoy Greenbrier State Forest.”

The project also reflects the spirit of community collaboration. GVORBA extends special thanks to Greenbrier State Forest Superintendent Andy Bennett for his continued support, as well as to Adam Perry, the Lewisburg Run Club, and the Greenbrier Valley Hellbenders MTB Team for their hands-on assistance with installation—no small feat on the rocky, uneven terrain.

The Figure 8 trail is now open and ready to ride. GVORBA invites the public to visit Greenbrier State Forest, explore the new features, and experience firsthand how community partnerships and grant support are enhancing recreational opportunities in the Greenbrier Valley.
