HUNTINGTON- In not so surprising news, Greenbrier East’s Neena McClintic cruised to an impressive first-place finish at the Huntington/Wayne XC Invitational at on Saturday, Aug. 23 to kick off the cross-country season with a bang.
The meet was held at Kennedy Center Field.
McClintic, still fresh off a highly successful track & field season last spring, beat Hurricane’s Delainey Burger by more than 23 seconds and helped the Spartans team to a sixth-place finish.
McClintic, a junior, ran with a time of 19:38.2.
East’s Maddie Lilly had a solid 24th place showing with a time of 22:08.3. Other runners for East included Caroline Perilli Hancock (34th- 23:00.0), Leah Boggs (86th- 26:48.3), and Jilian Styles (112th- 27:47.8).
In the boy’s division, the Spartans’ Grayson Adams recorded the highest place finish at no. 28 with a time of 18:25.7. Cash Ridpath came in 93rd and had a time of 20:45.3 and Kalem Mahon (98th- 20:50.1) and Nathan Conaway (100th- 20:59.7) cracked the top 100.
