LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – With a new school year just around the corner, many children are in need of shoes. In collaboration with Children’s Home Society, The Shoe Box in Lewisburg is currently hosting a Back to School Shoe Drive to help children start the year with clean, comfortable footwear. “We accept new or clean, gently worn shoes that would be good to give to kids,” says Amanda Workman of The Shoe Box. “People can bring shoes in or they can purchase them. If they purchase a clearance item here, we’re taking an additional percentage off if they donate them to the cause,” Workman adds.
The shoe drive will continue through Monday, August 18, and the exclusive drop-off location is The Shoe Box, located on Court Street in Lewisburg. With a goal of 200 pairs, the drive is still in need of donations in order to reach its goal. “All sizes are welcome,” Workman says. “We’re collecting for children aged Pre-K through 12th grade, so that covers a wide range of sizes.”
Once the drive concludes, the shoes will be gathered up and distributed by The Children’s Home Society in Lewisburg. “It’s an honor to be a part of something that will make a real difference,” Workman explains. “We are doing more than just collecting shoes – it’s about stepping up for our community and giving kids a good pair of shoes to build a good foundation – for confidence, comfort and showing up ready to learn,” she adds. “I’m proud to be part of something that puts kindness into action because even the simplest acts of giving can create lasting change.”
