RUPERT- Thanks to a Rapid Response Certification, the Rupert Volunteer Fire Department can now respond to medical emergencies that may pop up in the community and that meet certain criteria which will give some peace of mind to citizens in the area because according to Jeramy Bailey, the firefighter that headed the operation, it can take a minute to get an ambulance in a rural area. They can respond to certain medical calls possibly quicker than an ambulance could arrive on scene.
Rupert is one of the few fire departments in the county that can now perform this task and the hopes are that others may follow suit to basically have ‘extra ambulances’ in certain areas.
The plan in the near future is to set up medical personnel at local little league and middle school games when they are able.
