CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – State Treasurer Larry Pack announced his Office’s Unclaimed Property Division returned $1.8 million worth of funds to individuals, businesses and organizations during July, the first month of Fiscal Year 2026.

“My Office is proud to start off the new fiscal year strong with returning this money to our West Virginia citizens,” Treasurer Pack said. “Our Unclaimed Property Division set a new record of returning $40.6 million during the last fiscal year. Our goal is to return even more funds this upcoming year. This is the people’s money and we’re working to get it back to them.”

The Unclaimed Property Division returned a total of $1,814,665 paid out across 1,882 claims representing 8,623 individual properties during the month of July.

During Fiscal Year 2025, the Division returned a total of $40,562,684.21, topping the previous record of $28 million set during the prior fiscal year.

Since it began in 1967, the Unclaimed Property program has returned more than $350 million to rightful owners.

The State Treasurer’s Office now has more than $472 million worth of listings in its database.
