BECKLEY W.Va. (WVDN) – As part of an ongoing effort to offer its patients the most cutting-edge medical imaging technology available, the Vandalia Health CAMC Cancer Center – Beckley just received a new mobile Positron Emission Tomography Computed Tomography (PET/CT) scanner.
It offers high image quality and outstanding resolution for early identification of small lesions and metastases for state-of-the-art tumor staging.
This new technology will enable the Center to identify the smallest of lesions early because of the high resolution and image quality, which supports an accurate diagnosis and more personalized treatment options to our patients.
With its low-dose capabilities, this new unit also supports the Center’s efforts to maintain high levels of patient safety while still delivering quality images.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Aug. 5 at the CAMC Cancer Center – Beckley (275 Dry Hill Road, Beckley).
This is a significant milestone for the center and a testament to the incredible hard work and dedication of its entire staff. The unit will be in service Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
PET/CT scans help physicians detect diseases and better understand disease progression for accurate and early treatment decisions, all with short scan times and a wide bore for enhanced patient comfort.
