CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – State Treasurer Larry Pack today in Charleston presented an unclaimed property check valued at more than $20,000 to Prestera Health Services.
“My Office is thrilled to reunite Prestera Health Services with these lost funds,” Treasurer Pack said. “The money came from miscellaneous checks that will now go toward improving their operations here in Charleston and in Barboursville. I encourage everyone to check out our website, www.WVUnclaimedProperty.gov, to see if my Office is holding any money for you or your family.”
Treasurer Pack presented a check worth $20,679.41 to Prestera Health Services CEO Lisa Zappia at Prestera’s Charleston office Monday morning. Zappia said her executive assistant spent time on the Treasurer’s Office Unclaimed Property website to find the lost funds.
“We had no idea how much money we had sitting out there but we knew that any funds that we could find and be able to put towards our work that we do would be important to us,” Zappia said. “We’re going to put this towards some things that we need for our building and some capital needs items.”
Prestera Health serves individuals in eight West Virginia counties with substance use and behavioral health needs as well as intellectual disabilities and offers primary care services.
Last month, Treasurer Pack announced his Office’s Unclaimed Property Division set a new record for returning lost funds, with nearly $40.6 million worth of unclaimed property returned to individuals, businesses and organizations over the last fiscal year.
The State Treasurer’s Office has more than $476 million worth of listings in its database.
