Gassaway, WV (WVDN) – Mountaineer Food Bank is proud to announce it has been awarded a generous $51,000 Sheetz for Kidz Grant to help address food insecurity among children and families throughout West Virginia.
This grant will enable Mountaineer Food Bank to expand its child feeding programs, ensuring more nutritious meals reach households struggling to make ends meet. With childhood hunger rates remaining a serious concern, this funding will help fill a vital gap by providing fresh produce, pantry staples, and kid-friendly meals to families in need.
“We are deeply grateful for this grant, which comes at a crucial time,” said Chad Morrison, CEO of Mountaineer Food Bank. “Too many families in our communities face difficult choices between food and other necessities. This funding will allow us to reach even more children and help them grow, learn, and thrive.”
1 in 5 children in West Virginia face food insecurity. With this grant, Mountaineer Food Bank aims to increase meal distribution, enhance partnerships with schools and community resources, and build capacity to serve more children.
