FAIRLEA W.Va. (WVDN) – For many years, one of the big draws at the state fair has been the cooking, gardening and arts and crafts Competitions. Back several years, you would bring in food and garden, then arts and crafts were brought in the day these exhibits were picked up. Along with the regular Competitions, special Competitions also brought in competitors eager to win the big prize from companies such as Land O Lakes or Spam. Over the years, there’s been competition to see who could decorate the best holiday table, the best Christmas tree and many more.
This year is the 100th anniversary of the fair, fairgoers are sure to see the best of the best competitors have to offer. Always popular, the quilts shine hanging from the rafters, drawing the eyes as soon as you enter the West Virginia Building. Underneath the canopy of quilts, there will be every kind of flower, vegetable, food, along with arts and crafts to delight fairgoers of all ages. Don’t miss seeing the amazing work of the competitors.
