PRINCETON, W.Va.(WVDN) — New River Community and Technical College is now enrolling students for two Workforce Automotive Service Technology courses offered this fall at Mercer County Technical Education Center.
The two courses—Automotive Service Technology: Electrical Foundations and Automotive Service Technology: Hydraulic Brakes, Steering and Suspension—are designed to provide hands-on training for individuals interested in developing foundational and specialized skills for today’s automotive industry.
Both programs begin with a shared three-week module:
Module I: Introduction to Vehicle Service Technology & Service Bay Operations
This module introduces students to foundational vehicle servicing skills, safety protocols, and collaborative work environments. Hands-on training includes oil and filter changes, tire replacement, vehicle lifting and support, leak inspections, and minor component replacements such as belts and light bulbs. These basics lay the groundwork for more advanced automotive and diesel training.
