LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) — The Greenbrier Humane Society is thrilled to announce a wave of generosity that is transforming lives—both canine and human. Thanks to the incredible support of 15 local businesses and community leaders, 87 adoptions were sponsored, with 31 dog adoptions still currently sponsored and available at no cost to approved adopters.
This initiative began with a powerful gesture from Doss Electrical LLC, which started a “Pay It Forward” movement and challenged other businesses to join in. What followed was an outpouring of community spirit, with 14 additional businesses and individuals stepping forward—not just to sponsor a single adoption, but to cover the costs for multiple dogs during a critical time when the shelter was at full capacity.
“These acts of kindness have given us the breathing room we desperately needed, but more importantly, they’ve paved the way for 31 more dogs to find the loving homes they deserve,” said Kirstin Cole, Community Liaison for the Greenbrier Humane Society. “We are beyond grateful to these donors. Now, it’s time for the community to meet us halfway. These dogs are ready. Their adoptions are fully sponsored, and they come vaccinated, microchipped, flea and tick treated, dewormed, and spayed or neutered. We just need adopters to open their hearts and homes.”
Each sponsored dog is adoption-ready and waiting to meet their forever family. The humane society encourages not only Greenbrier County residents but also those from surrounding areas to visit, meet the dogs, and take advantage of this unique opportunity.
