On Monday, August 11 at the State Fair of WV, prepare for a party, not a concert.
That’s how the Drifters, Coasters, Platters want you to be ready for what should be a fun night at the grandstand.
Three of the world’s most beloved and cherished musical groups will give attendees that nostalgic feeling from the 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s we all long for year in and year out.
Each band has been instrumental in creating that old school Rock & Roll/Doo-Wop sound. The Coasters, which featured the late Cornell Gunter, had ‘Charlie Brown,’ ‘Yakety Yak’ and ‘Poison Ivy.’ The Platters, a group of four had ‘Only You’, ‘Smoke ‘Gets in Your Eyes’ and the ‘Great Pretender.’ The Drifters, interestingly enough, are one of Rock & Roll’s founding vocal groups and feature hits like Under the Boardwalk,’ ‘Up on the Roof,’ ‘This Magic Moment,’ and ‘On Broadway.’
Together, all three groups have combined for over 40 of the top songs in the history of Rock & Roll and each show they play–or party, as listed above– is loved by all.
There are very few artists that can boast a more astounding resume’ and the show at the fair is expected to be one giant party and a really great time.
