LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – A Lewisburg woman was arrested Friday evening following a reported domestic disturbance at a residence in Lewisburg, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Lewisburg Police Department.
On July 18, an officer responded to the scene after a 911 call was placed to Greenbrier County Dispatch reporting a disturbance between a woman and her adult daughter. The caller told dispatchers that her daughter had not been taking prescribed medication for more than a month and had become increasingly paranoid and irate.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the daughter, identified as Tamia McKoy, who stated that she was “fine” and did not need to take her medication. McKoy initially admitted that an argument with her mother had turned physical, but then recanted, according to the complaint.
The mother reportedly told police she had been arguing with her daughter throughout the day and feared being hit. She said McKoy struck a table beside her with a hairbrush during the dispute, which made her feel unsafe.
Although the mother confirmed she had not been physically struck, she declined to say whether any threats had been made, reportedly out of fear that her daughter would be arrested. She also allegedly declined medical attention and did not request a Domestic Violence Protective Order.
McKoy was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Lewisburg Police Department for processing before being booked at Southern Regional Jail. She is being charged with domestic assault-1 and is being held on a $1,000 bond.
