GREENBRIER W.Va. (WVDN) – Five members of the GVAC Sea Dragons swim team competed in the WV Long Course State Championship Meet in Morgantown, July 11-13. This was a prelims/finals meet for the over-10 age groups, where the top 16 finishers in each prelim event return to swim in the finals.
The swimmers’ hard work all season resulted in multiple personal best times and top ten finishes. Tianna Allen qualified for finals in seven events, placing 8th in the 50m breast, 9th in the 100m breast, and 10th in the 50m back and 200m IM. Bianca Arnold placed 7th in the 50m free and 100m back. Emily Hobbs qualified for finals in the three events, placing 6th in the 200m back and 9th in the 50m fly.
Zoey Hobbs scored the most points for the team, placing 4th in the 50m free, 50m breast, and 100m free, and 5th in the 50m and 100m back. Avery Hodges-McGuffin qualified for finals in four events, placing 8th in the 200m IM and 50m fly, 9th in the 50m free, and 10th in the 400m free.
The Sea Dragons will celebrate a successful summer season with an intrasquad meet at the Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center on July 16 at 5:30 p.m. There are no admission fees for spectators, and prospective swimmers are encouraged to attend.
