ALDERSON W.Va. (WVDN) – Alderson’s 4th of July activities brought a good crowd to the Train Depot for Open Mic at the Depot on Saturday, July 5. Approximately 30 people were treated to a wide range of music, from jazz trombone to a cappella singing to ukuleles. A few new musicians joined regulars for a wonderful evening of friendship and entertainment.
Sponsored by Alderson Main Street, Open Mic at the Depot is held the first Saturday of the month, May through September, from 4 to 7 p.m. The event is in its fourth season and continues to provide a warm, friendly, and encouraging venue for local and visiting musicians. Event organizer Marcia Sutherland said, “One of the things I really like is the original music; we have some great songwriters here.”
