RICHLANDS W.Va. (WVDN) – Britt Ludwig, the Greenbrier County Attorney, spoke to the Richlands Ruritans on June 11. Her topic was the Comprehensive Plan for Greenbrier County. This plan, started in the 1970s, covers zoning, building code, flood plain ordinance and subdivision ordinance for the county. The plan covers the unincorporated areas of the county. Made with input from the communities, it focuses on economic development and hazard mitigation.
A community survey was recently conducted to update the current plan. Community participation in this survey is encouraged and this year over 931 responses were received. This was an unusually high response rate. The main concerns were the lack of sewer and water access and the lack of health care facilities. The revised comprehensive plan is expected to be completed by the end of August of this year.
In the club business meeting, the club voted to donate $200 to the Calvary Methodist Church Vacation Bible School. The club officers for 2025 are: President Lucie Refsland, Vice President Steve Harris, Secretary Jack Tuckwiller and Treasurer Cliff Gillilan.
The Richlands Ruritans Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month for a dinner meeting at the Calvary Methodist Church on Midland Trail East in Richlands.
