LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – A Greenbrier County man wanted on multiple felony charges was arrested Monday, June 30, after authorities say he barricaded himself inside a Lewisburg home and resisted law enforcement’s efforts to take him into custody.
According to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Wykle Street on Monday to serve an outstanding felony warrant for malicious wounding and a separate domestic battery warrant on Jorge Erazo-Jimenez.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they attempted to make contact but received no response. Neighbors told deputies they had seen Jimenez enter the home earlier that day and believed he was still inside. Another neighbor reported seeing him inside about 20 to 30 minutes before deputies arrived.
Deputies were later approached by Jimenez’s sister, who lives at the residence and allegedly initially attempted to avoid contact with officers. She ultimately confirmed that Jimenez was inside. Deputies reported hearing a male’s voice coming from inside the house but said Jimenez refused repeated commands to open the door.
After multiple announcements in both English and Spanish, deputies forced entry through the front door out of concern for officer safety and to execute the felony warrant. Once inside, they found the bedroom door where Jimenez was hiding locked from the inside. More commands were given, but Jimenez allegedly refused to cooperate.
An officer forced the bedroom door open and found Jimenez, who allegedly continued to ignore commands and refused to show his hands. Deputies said he tensed his body to avoid being handcuffed and physically resisted arrest.
Deputies took Jimenez to the ground and managed to restrain him. He was then transported to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center for medical clearance before being taken to Southern Regional Jail.
In addition to the original felony malicious wounding and domestic battery warrants, Jimenez now faces an additional charge of obstructing an officer, according to authorities. Deputies also served him with a domestic violence protection order while he was in custody.
The Department of Homeland Security was notified of Jimenez’s arrest, and an agent said a detainer will be issued to hold him at the jail pending further investigation.
The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office said no injuries to deputies were reported during the incident. The case remains under investigation.
