LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – The Greenbrier Humane Society is proud to announce that we have been officially recognized as a No-Kill Shelter by Best Friends Animal Society, a leading national animal welfare organization. This recognition reflects our 91% save rate in 2024, meaning more than nine out of ten animals who entered our care last year were saved.
Achieving no-kill status is a milestone made possible by the tireless dedication of our team, and we could not have reached it without the generous and ongoing support of our donors, adopters, fosters, volunteers, and the entire Greenbrier community. Each adoption, every donation, and all the hours volunteered have made a life-saving difference.
“Becoming a no-kill shelter is more than just a number—it’s a reflection of compassion, commitment, and community coming together to protect the lives of animals in need,” said Jocelyn Clark, Shelter Operations Manager of Greenbrier Humane Society. “This achievement belongs to all of us.”
We remain committed to improving the lives of animals across our community and continuing our mission to ensure every pet has a chance at a happy, healthy life. With the continued support of our community, we aim to raise the bar even higher in the years to come.
