RONCEVERTE, W.Va. (WVDN) – Voters in Ronceverte re-elected Mayor Deena Pack on Tuesday, handing her a second four-year term in a closely watched four-way race.
Pack secured 88 votes to lead the field, followed by David Withrow with 77 votes, Shawn Honaker with 48 and Kim Erskine with 42.
Voter turnout surged in this year’s municipal election, with approximately 280 ballots cast. This is more than a 20% increase compared to the 2021 elections. The polls at Ronceverte City Hall were open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., following several weeks of early voting. Results were announced around 9:30 p.m., with election oversight provided by Lee Dean from the West Virginia Secretary of State’s office and a team of local poll workers.
In the race for two city council seats, Emilee White led with 120 votes, followed by Matt Bergman with 93. Incumbent Scott Vogelsong narrowly missed re-election with 90 votes. Also on the ballot were Trey Rogers with 67 votes, Eric Mercer with 34 votes and Monique Molina with 10 votes; the latter two running as write-in candidates.
With the election results now finalized, Mayor Pack and the newly elected council members are set to continue their work on enhancing Ronceverte’s infrastructure and fostering community growth.
The results remain unofficial until certified in the coming days.
