GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – On Tuesday, May 27, the Greenbrier County Commission met in regular session. As usual, the meeting opened with the invocation and pledge and moved on to approving the minutes from the last meeting.
After several line revisions, it was noted that at the end of the year, several line item transfers were always required to make the budget come out right.
The Route 60 East Sewer Project TIFF Fund is almost complete. A total of $84,503.75 was paid out this round.
The White Sulphur Springs wastewater treatment project was paid a total of $93,093.17. With $388,000 left. This project is in its early stages.
Up for reconsideration was the GIG-ready broadband project. With $101,232.68 being requested to finish out the project, Commissioner Tammy Tincher pointed out that this amount will be reimbursed by the state. The amount the Commission is responsible for has already been paid out. The $101,232.68 is the 75% that the state will be covering.
Up next was phase two of the Sam Black water line extension project. $63,941.80 was approved for this project.
There was a new hire up for consideration in the prosecuting attorney’s office. Ashley Henderson was presented as the candidate with a criminal justice degree and administrative assistant experience. Her start date will be June 17.
Matt Ford was there to get the bids for consideration for mowing the Meadow River Trail.
Don Havens presented the name of the company chosen to do maintenance for 911 Towers. Alpha Mechanical LLC was chosen for the emergency center tower maintenance.
Havens also announced that Ikes Blades of Glory LLC was chosen for ground maintenance at the 911 towers and emergency center.
Mr. Mitchell appeared before the commission on behalf of the SWAT team to request a grant to purchase chemical agent masks. Mitchell said the last masks were purchased in 2007, making them outdated, and there weren’t enough to go around to everyone. The amount requested was $5,278. This will purchase new masks and filters for the team.
Lieutenant Webber asked for a drunk driving grant to secure funding for things such as DUI checkpoints. The grant would be good from July 1 through September 29.
