GHENT, W.Va. (WVDN) – New River Community and Technical College is now registering students for its upcoming Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training Class, beginning in June. This hands-on training opportunity equips students with the skills needed to begin a career in the high-demand trucking and transportation industry.

The program will be offered in two phases at the Advanced Technology Center in Ghent. The first phase, Learner’s Permit Prep Week, begins June 2. Students interested in this portion of the program must have completed their DOT physical before the start date and be prepared to take their CDL learner’s permit test at the end of the week. The second phase, CDL Class A training, begins June 9 and runs for eight weeks. Classes will be held Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include both classroom instruction and practical driving experience.

The total cost of the training program is $4,824 for students participating in the Learner’s Permit Prep Week, or $4,135 for those enrolling only in the CDL Class A training portion. Preregistration is required, and early registration is strongly encouraged as space is limited.

To register or request additional information, students should complete the Workforce Education Form or contact Gloria Kincaid at gkincaid@newriver.edu or 304-793-6101.
